Since the release of ‘The Rio Azul EP’ in 2017, Rio’s been hard at work crafting his style which has culminated into this new three song EP, ‘Mood Swing’. As its name suggests, Rio runs through a gamut of emotions from confident and cocky on the opening track ‘Hitch A Ride’ to a deep sense of vulnerability on the follow-up track ‘Foolish’. The addition of catchy, infectious melodies throughout the project are a breath of fresh air and a far cry from his dark and ominously written work on previous projects [’96 Honda]. The sequence of the track list is a journey that Rio leads you through, with ‘Cold’ being a metaphorical “peak of the mountain”. All of Rio’s trials, tribulations and success have been worth the reward in the end – finding love and happiness in success by being true to self. ‘Mood Swing’ is somewhat of an autobiographical account of Rio’s life in a small dose that also serves as an exciting soundtrack for any occasion this Summer ’19 and beyond.
