about

As the world continues to purge itself of the rancid energies that have been inhabiting it for centuries, Rio returns with MYFRIENDMEESHA to accompany him on a poetic journey riddled with hope and heartache. Through stark imagery and blunt trauma deliveries, the two serve and onslaught of radical ideas and prophecies in hopes to shift the course of the listener's mindset. References to the popularization of zombied Instagram fame as well as injustices in the court system, are just a couple of key points mentioned in this non-stop, bar riddled cipher of thoughts and emotions and calls for change. A more expressive, raw and bold step for Rio in a grounded new direction proves to be a fruitful pivot in the long-run, as its clear through "The Foundation". The search for truth is over. Now, Rio Azul aims to spread the insight he's gained throughout his life, and particularly from recent memory.

lyrics

Verse 1 (Rio Azul):
Fragility climbs in the scariest times -- I'm talkin'/
Here and now every breath that I rhyme/
Sunshine's gettin' devoured, all these meteoric showers/
Every hour after hour, won't submit to the signs/
Inclined to higher thinkin' in the inclement weather/
More reason to to get it together, need to build me a shelter/
Helter Skelter's on horizon, no lie son/
Feel like a fish on a line hung -- no time, done/
Is what another man would be, but no -- not me/
'cause I'm conjurin' strategies one would think to be fantasy/
Actually, I been preparin' for the future to come/
Young dumb bums, sons, daughters, ignorant ones/
See I could save ya if ya care to listen/
But chances are ya won't, so goes the circle on'a spinnin' and spinnin'/
Now allowing an intermission, I'm stating all that I've written/
The sentiment of my diction's a message to pique ya interest/
Suggesting you pay attention to what I mention/
No lesser you than a reverend, we all could make it to heaven/
First step -- get the fuck off ya phone for a second/
These Instagram hoes got me bothered and stressin'/
And nigguhs too, wanna yell WorldStar -- they think they flexin'/
A lot'a dumb shit developin' kid/
New stories are so boring, only murder and Knicks/
The coverage of the shooters are the ones they against/
Clear biases cloud judgement, are you gettin' the gist?/
Sound thoughts and loud voices, help me start up a trend/
'cause these thots in Rolls Royces are a following sin/
I speak my mind with a passion, whether paper and pen/
Mic in a room or marker and a wall in a den/
And so, the goal has grown and manifested from the back of mind/
To the front of the lobe, like black bus riders of old/
New age birthing and the womb is my soul/
All respect to Mother Badu, but I'm takin' control/
Not for myself, but the people a whole, fa sho --
WATCH ME

Verse 2 (MYFRIENDMEESHA):
Yo, I was married to a state of mind but had to divorce it/
Since the kind of thought it brought had left me exhausted/
It began as an embryo and grew enormous, ah/
What's worse than knowin' that it's being forced in, huh?!/
Stuck in a cycle -- a wheel of fortune/
Fortunately, I got rid of that life -- like abortions/
Sincerely, I miss it dearly, but was out of proportion/
No potion could remedy the suffering once brought in, never/
Mind the type'a cost I had lost when afforded/
Long as my conscience elevated like using a forklift/
My, foundation's dug up, now the skyscraper's soaring on a new agenda/
Pretenders never get noticed/
So I'm peekin' over people in a crowd so hopeless/
The host with the most-est fixin' what's broken/
Of course, I'm off the hook like a phone that's cordless/
The self-sustained engineer slash recordist/
See it's not about who's the flyest, the wisest, the oldest/
The richest or the the famous, but about who stays focused/
I keep, persistent -- see it's company along with a motive/
To get your thoughts open like cell phone explosives/
To hell with your offers, officers, authors/
And any other accomplice feedin' us nonsense/
The young left defenseless in a world of offense/
-- Officially drowned in it's contents, yo/
The complex system proving gruesome and heartless/
A shattered work of art holdin' on to a promise/
Will be the most honest vocalist who's modest/
But on the mic will speak about what he feels consciously/
I see emcees tryin'a paint mirages/
The swift blade cut a phony rapper to parts with/
The rest of his entourage leave'm dearly departed/
Yours truly take the first swing and beat him half retarded/
Take a seat like you just farted, no need to be retarded/
I'mma be the one to lead us back to where it started --
